Happy Valley (2014)
A&E
From award-winning director Amir Bar-Lev, HAPPY VALLEY chronicles the Penn State University community as it is rocked in 2011 by charges of sexual abuse involving former Nittany Lions assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. After decades old crimes bubble to surface, a historic football program once defined by the pursuit of “success with honor” finds itself in shambles, forever marked as the black sheep of college athletics.
The story further ignites when a former FBI investigator reveals a university wide cover-up involving administrators, presidents, officials, and the once seemingly incorruptible head coach, Joe Paterno. After the downfall of its idol, Happy Valley, PA is not the only college town forced to look inwards as universities across the nation are left to ask the question: do their multi-million-dollar athletic departments serve a positive role in the academic community?
