Breaklight Pictures launched in 2020 as a joint venture with The Content Group. Led by veteran producer, Dan Johnstone, Breaklight is currently in development and production on several series for broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms, including HILLSONG: A MEGACHURCH EXPOSED and AMERICAN CARTEL now streaming on Discovery+.

 

Johnstone previously served as head of Karga Seven Pictures’ special projects division where he spearheaded the development and production of History series such as HUNTING HITLER, JFK DECLASSIFIED: TRACKING OSWALD, THE HUNT FOR THE ZODIAC KILLER and BURIED: KNIGHTS TEMPLAR as well as the scripted-hybrid project, RISE OF EMPIRES: OTTOMAN, for Netflix.

 

He also recently completed the documentary project about Dan Carlin’s VR experience WAR REMAINS for MWM Interactive.

 

Johnstone began his career at Harpo Films as Vice President of Development, servicing the company’s exclusive HBO deal for television, movies, and miniseries, as well as theatrical projects for all major studios including Lionsgate and Dreamworks.

 

Throughout his 20-year career, Johnstone has produced for companies including STX Entertainment, All3Media, Maverick TV, and networks such as VH1, Comedy Central, A&E, Animal Planet, and HGTV, among others.
